Secrets Mirabel Cancun: Review from a Travel Agent

Secrets Mirabel Cancun is a brand-new, completely reimagined property (just opened in late 2025 where the old Now Emerald used to be), highlighting its spectacular dual views of the Caribbean sunrise and the Nichupté Lagoon sunsets make this resort a great choice!

Secrets Mirabel Cancun review

I’m excited to have another adults only option in Cancun. Secrets Mirabel is only about 13 minutes from the airport. We landed at noon on a Wednesday and arrived at the hotel by 1:15PM. Immigration and luggage was moving smoothly. We used USA Transfers for our private transfer via SUV. I always choose the deluxe option, it’s worth the upgrade to me.

Secrets Mirabel Cancun

The resort has 487 rooms ranging from tropical view, ocean front, swim out and plunge pool rooms. They also offer upgraded amenities for Preferred Club guests, including a dedicated pool and Sky Bar Lounge.

The lobby is beautiful! They have a lobby bar and a few nights a week there’s entertainment there either before or after dinner.

They’ll hand you a drink and cold towel on arrival and it sets the tone for a wonderful vacation.

The check-in area is in the lobby with a separate lounge for Preferred Club check-in.

Preferred Club Swim-Out Room

We stayed in a Preferred Club Swim-out room. If you’ve read any of my reviews, you might remember a swim-out is my favorite!

The Preferred Club tower at Secrets Mirabel Cancun is new, everything in it is new. You can still smell the paint. I love the dark marble, but it is VERY slick. We had to lay towels down to not fall. Bathrooms are fairly open with a frosted door to the toilet room. The shower has a seat and grab bar. There’s space to store your shower necessities as well.

The vanity under the sink has a large drawer in the middle. It looks like just a towel bar but that’s a drawer. I’m a big fan of resorts doing this! Secrets St. Lucia has them as well. There’s also a desk behind the bed, with more storage and space to work or put make-up on. I utilized those drawers as well.

Dining at Secrets Mirabel Cancun

The resort has 5 a la carte restaurants, a buffet for breakfast and lunch, coffee shop and snack bar. There’s also a restaurant open for breakfast for Preferred Club guests only but open to everyone for lunch and dinner.

We tried the breakfast buffet the last morning and I wish I had tried it more than once. It was good! My favorite lunch was the goat cheese pizza at Olio.

The entrance to Himitsu was so pretty! It was my favorite restaurant. Most (maybe all) restaurants have a private wine or tequila room. You can reserve this room for yourself or a larger party, typically with a minimum purchase of wine or upgrade steak menu. We booked the private room one night of our stay. The wine prices were not bad at all!

A la Carte restaurant options for dinner at Secrets Mirabel

  • Blue Water – Steakhouse, everything we had was good here!
  • Bordeaux – French restaurant with an onion quiche that will change your life.
  • El Patio – Mexican cuisine, so good. They bring chips, salsa and guacamole to start your meal.
  • Himitsu – Asian cuisine, likely one of the best meals ever at a resort. We ate here twice. We did not try the Hibachi.
  • Olio Terrace – Mediterranean, we did not try this for dinner but ate lunch here daily and most of our breakfasts.

The Pools at Secrets Mirabel Cancun

There are 4 main pools plus technically 2 Preferred Club pools. The second one is on the roof by the Sky Bar and it’s very small. I never saw anyone in it. But the main Preferred Club pool overlooks the beach and has a swim up bar. The other 4 are open to all guests and one also has a swim up bar. The main pools are where the activities, games and aqua fitness classes take place. If you like a more lively time pick the main pool in the middle.

The Preferred Club pool is accessibly by key card only. It’s fairly calm, has lots of pool chairs and concierge to assist. They will set up your towels and umbrellas, don’t forget to tip!

Entertainment at Secrets Mirabel Cancun

I’m middle ground on needing nightlife versus just some good music or a show. Secrets Mirabel has both and it was great! We caught the show several nights, listened to music in the lobby (before and after dinner) and sat in the night club listening to the band or DJ.

The Spa at Secrets Mirabel

We visited the spa and paid for the upgraded hydrotherapy session. This included a mud mask, body scrub and all the plunge pools in the spa. It’s outdoor, but covered with a view of the lagoon. They offer sunset sessions as well, that would be amazing!

Sadly, no pictures inside the spa or the hydrotherapy area.

We had a great trip! I’m so glad to have another favorite adults only in the Cancun hotel zone.
