A Weekend in Park City, Utah

We recently spent a long weekend in Park City, Utah doing a few touristy things. We were there specifically for an event in Orem but stayed in Park City because it’s just so pretty there!

It was colder than I expected, with rain and there’s still some snow up in the mountains. I’ve been in August and prefer that weather! The ski lift in historic Park City doesn’t open up again until mid-June.

Here are a few things we did, some food we ate, and some sights to see!

Sheraton Park City

We stayed at the Sheraton Park City. It was a good location with several restaurants within walking distance. They have a bar and restaurant on site. The Club-level rooms get light breakfast and snacks in the lounge. They have fire pits outside the bar area with lots of seating.

Drinks were very good but priced as you would expect at a hotel bar. They also run a shuttle to historic downtown from about 4-10 PM, but they only drop off and pick up in one location.

The room had lots of storage, the dresser had three big drawers, a mini fridge, and a safe big enough for my laptop. The bathroom had more storage as well with shelves and closet space. I took a chance and took my travel diffuser and it fit the hair dryer! The one in Cancun did not. I don’t usually risk that.

What we ate

Fuego Pizza in Park City was a block from the hotel. We went there twice. Pizza, meatballs, salad and drinks were all good.

Fancy Burger in Orem (really surprised us, very good!) We were in Orem during lunch our last day and I did a random search for a burger place and we took a chance. They do smash burgers and some of the best crispy fries I have ever had.

501 on Main in Park City, the food was really good. Downtown has street parking and several lots to park in. Just make sure you pay and watch your time. We were able to park a block from the restaurant.

High West Distillery in Wanship

High West is my favorite whiskey! When I visited in 2022 with Ally I was unable to take the distillery tour (I had an underage traveler in tow). We booked lunch and the tour and spent some time walking around and tasting whiskey of course. They also have a saloon in Park City if you don’t want the distillery tour.

The tasting after the tour included four limited-release whiskeys. We have a few bottles we brought home. Several we can’t get in Texas and it can’t be shipped here.

We took a drive

On our last day, we took a drive and stopped at a few places along the way to Orem. All of the stops had places to hike, walk, bike, have a picnic, and enjoy the best views! We stopped at Deer Creek Dam Trailhead, Bridal Veil Falls and Kyhv Peak Lookout Point. That last one is a very, very slow, winding drive up a mountain.

Utah is a great option for non-winter travel if you like to be outdoors.
