Live Aqua Cancun Food Review from a Travel Agent

July 2025 was my third stay at Live Aqua Cancun. Since I’ve reviewed the hotel twice I decided this post would focus on the food and a few drinks. Food is subjective, and everyone has an opinion about what is good based on what they like. This will obviously be from my view point and what I like to eat. My husband and daughter did not have any complaints about any of the food they tried.

Live Aqua Cancun Food Review from a Travel Agent

Overall, I think Live Aqua has great food. There are lots of options and most people would have no trouble finding something they really like! We tried four restaurants this time, we went out one night to Harry’s Cancun. I may need to do a whole post on Harry’s. We’ve gone twice now.

I have stayed at Live Aqua Cancun three times now, I’ve reviewed our full stays from 2022 and 2024.

P.S. Why is it so hard to get good photos of food in dark restaurants??

Varenna

I’ll start with my favorite – Varenna. I love Italian food so this should be a given that Varenna would be my favorite. I ate here once for lunch and once for dinner. The tomato cream soup and lasagna is so good. It’s one of my favorites at any resort. My husband had a great steak, but it’s not served with any sides so order accordingly.

Dinner at varenna

Appetizer was caprese salad and cream of tomato soup. We had steak and lasagna for our entrees.

Hidden Garden

Next favorite is Hidden Garden – their Asian restaurant. I’m pretty simple, I like Pad Thai and I like Chicken Satay and they have both on their menu. It’s also a very pretty restaurant. They have a small outdoor area and a small indoor area. It was a good thing there was space indoors because there was a downpour and we had to make a run for it. We ended up sharing a big table with a single guest and it was fun talking to him and sharing a meal with a stranger, also from Texas.

hidden garden has a beautiful entrance and the outdoor dining space is under a canopy of trees.

MB

MB is their fancier restaurant, men are required to wear long pants and they enforce this rule. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have seafood, chicken and beef on the menu. I ordered a chicken dish this time but should have ordered my regular filet. Live and learn. They are known for their Habanero soup in a bread bowl. It’s not as spicy as I thought it might be, but be warned if you don’t like spicy foods.

The stars of the show are definitely the Habanero soup, my tomato and mozzarella appetizer, the filet and chocolate brownie! Don’t skip the brownie!

Siete

Least favorite this year and last year was Siete, the Mexican restaurant. I’m bummed because it topped my list our first stay in 2022. I’m not a fan of the format of buffet and a la carte mixed. My appetizer and soup were very good, maybe I just chose poorly for my main course. The table next to us ordered the same entree and both seemed to like it.

Stars of the show here were definitely the poblano soup and my quesadilla appetizer.

Breakfast options at Live Aqua Cancun

For breakfast they have a sit-down, a la carte option at Azur by the beach, the buffet and room service. Aqua Club guests also have snacks and pastries in the lounge. I do not like the breakfast buffet at Live Aqua. We tried it once this trip, my omelet was great but otherwise not great.

We ate at Azur every other morning this trip. The food and service there (and views) are far superior. To be fair, there are very few buffets I like, one is Secrets Moxche. They have an outstanding breakfast buffet.

Azur offers several fruit options, smoothies, yogurt, waffles and egg dishes. They are accommodating with requests to modify a dish (within reason). I order my breakfast sandwich with no lettuce and added a side of hashbrowns.

Lunch options at Live Aqua Cancun

Live Aqua has several options for lunch. I love Varenna for lunch! But my favorite is to order lunch delivered to our cabana. The menu has burgers, wraps, sandwiches, pizza, fruit, just about anything you can think of.

Lunch options at Live Aqua Cancun:

  • Varenna (Italian)
  • Azur
  • Sea Corner
  • Grill or Food Station
  • Order from your cabana or pool chair

If you like sushi, Live Aqua Cancun has a sushi spot on the ground level by AKA bar and MB. My daughter tried it twice and liked it, it’s pretty popular in the late afternoon or for a pre-dinner snack.

My takeaway is I definitely recommend Live Aqua Cancun to clients asking for an all-inclusive resort with good to great food! I have no major complaints and the only things I didn’t like were my preferences.
