Must-Have Travel Essentials: Travel Tips for a Low Stress Vacation

Hello, fellow travelers! After countless miles and memories, I’ve learned that the right gear can make or break a trip. Forget the fancy gadgets and over-the-top tech, my favorite travel items are the simple things that save me time, stress, and a lot of hassle. From keeping your belongings secure to making sure your bag stands out in a sea of sameness, these are the tried-and-true essentials that have earned a permanent spot in my carry-on and my heart. Read on for the full rundown of my favorite travel companions!

Apple Air Tags
Hands down, one of the best things we added. I have one in each checked bag plus our carry-on in case it “walks” off. Once we land I can check that bags made it to our destination. I can usually even tell once they’ve made it off the plane and are heading to baggage claim. Since most baggage claim areas are chaotic with no security, I can easily tell if a bag walks off with someone else.
TSA Locks
I’m so glad we added these to our luggage. I know they can still be opened but so far they haven’t, unless no official note was left in our luggage.
Personalized Luggage Tags and Luggage Pom-Poms
The Pom-poms really help make your luggage stand out. Of course, a personalized luggage tag is essential. I’m contemplating the suitcase sleeves that cover the whole bag.
Travel Sound Machine
We just added this to our travel must haves in 2024 after a bad nights sleep at a hotel. We use one at home so it just made sense to have a travel version.
Multi-plug Outlet
So many hotels lack in outlets especially with all the devices we have now. If you are a family traveling and everyone has a phone, iPad, laptop and watch you definitely won’t have enough outlets.
A Good Toiletry Bag
I have tried several and I even tried a new one recently. Ended up unpacking it and going back to my old one. I prefer to keep my make-up in my carry-on so I need one that holds it all plus a few other toiletries that don’t have to be checked.
Laptop Friendly Carry-on Suitcase
I tried backpacks and they get too heavy if I actually pack what I need in there. This year I ordered a hard side carry-on suitcase that has a laptop compartment. It’s been great, I’ve used it on 3 trips so far.
