Top Resorts in Mexico & the Caribbean with Water Parks for Families

Dreams Macao Beach, Punta Cana

Dreams Macao Beach is in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Flights from DFW nonstop are a little over 4 hours. Dreams is a great family brand with lots of activities and entertainment. A lot of their resorts have guaranteed connecting rooms for families to have more space. This Dreams Resort has a water park with a lazy river as well as a kids club and teen club. They also have a 2-bedroom villa with a private pool for a more luxurious vacation.

Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites, Punta Cana

The Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites is part of the Iberostar collection. They have an adult section called JOIA Bavaro and three family sections with different amenities and price points. I was able to tour this hotel in April 2025. They will be renovating and adding a water park in addition to existing amenities.

It sits on a beautiful beach, has a lot of restaurants, activities, and bars. For adults, there’s a casino and nightclub on site. This hotel would be a great option for a multi-generational trip or a wedding.

Hard Rock Riviera Maya, south of Cancun

This Hard Rock is about an hour south of Cancun. They have a family and adult section. The water park is included and has areas for all ages. They have deluxe rooms with double beds and 2-bedroom Sky Terrace suites and lots of options in between. The resort also has laser tag and a bowling alley, both at an additional cost.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo and Maya, south of Cancun

The Iberostar Paraiso complex has 5 resorts. The Maya and Lindo share restaurants and amenities, and have included access to the water park. The Grand Paraiso (now called JOIA Paraiso) is the adult section, and you have access to the entire property. My review of Iberostar Joia Paraiso is linked here.

The Beach and Del Mar are the lower-priced sections, and the water park is not included. You do have to buy day passes if you want to access it. The Maya and Lindo section offers standard rooms, junior suites, and 2-bedroom suites, and amenities such as a wave pool, water park, and lazy river.

Riu Dunamar, north of Cancun

The Riu Dunamar is about 45 minutes north of Cancun. It’s on a great beach in Costa Mujeres. This Riu is a more budget-conscious resort with standard rooms and two-bedroom suites. They have a water park with slides for older kids and a splash park for younger kids. You can also stay at their sister hotel next door, the Riu Palace Costa Mujeres, and have more amenities and access to the water park.
