This post kicks off a two-part series on resorts with family suites. A family suite means the resort has rooms that are guaranteed connecting or a two-bedroom suite with a central living area. The second post will have the resorts in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

It’s a great perk for families to be able to guarantee connecting rooms or have a suite when traveling with children. In the last few years, resorts have gotten on board with adding these room types to their hotels. These resorts also have lots of amenities for families, including water parks, mini-golf, teen clubs, kids clubs, and much more. You can find the post on resorts with water parks here. Family suites are a great way for families with multiple children or extended families to share a room.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites

The two-bedroom family suites here have a king and two double beds. The bathrooms at Riu are open-concept, meaning the shower and sink area are open to the room. The family rooms are connected or share a common entry area with two separate rooms. The Riu Dunamar has an included water park, four restaurants open for dinner, and snacks available 24 hours a day.

The bathrooms are private making it easy for families to share the space. This Iberostar has a water park for younger kids, a golf course, and six restaurants. They do not require dinner reservations except for the Hibachi table.
