Marathon training: 16 down, 2 to go

When I started this series of recaps week 16 seemed so far away. Now it’s here and week 18 is closing in on me fast!

week 16

Some observations from the last 16 weeks:

  • Need a better nutrition plan next time. (did I just type that????)
  • Will be spending December and January getting these 4-5 pounds off.
  • Need to make more room/time for cross training and ab work. It was done but only once a week.

Training this week:

Sunday: 20 miles, recap here

Monday: Rest day

Tuesday: 5 miles, 9:49 pace

Wednesday: 4 miles, 10:06 pace

Thursday: 5 miles, 9:57 pace

Friday: Rest day

Saturday: 10 miles, 9:31 pace

Today’s weather was 37 (felt like 28), drizzly and a little windy. It was very hard to get out the door but once I got going it was great. Almost perfect temps, without the wind. I also purchased hand warmers last night and those were a life saver.

So, I took a peek at the elevation for the Dallas Marathon….

Looks fun, right? That’s why I hill train, every single week!

This was a good running week for me. I didn’t make it to the gym, but now that I’m running less the next two weeks, hopefully I can get there a few more times.

I’m excited for Thanksgiving Day, pumpkin pie is my favorite! Ally and I are running our local Turkey Trot that morning.

Anyone go out of town for Thanksgiving?

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving food?

Who’s running a Turkey Trot?
