Documenting your vacation in photos is a great way to preserve memories and share your experiences with friends. I’ve compiled a few pointers and some of my favorite vacation photos!

Here are some tips on how to document your vacation in photos:

1. Plan Your Shots

  • Research your destination and make a list of must-capture locations.
  • Look for Instagrammable locations if this interests you!
  • Think about the story you want to tell—daily activities, local culture, food, landscapes, and personal moments.
  • Use portrait mode (iPhone) to take pictures of drinks.

2. Capture Key Moments to document your vacation in photos

  • Arrival & Departure – Take photos at the airport, departing and arriving.
  • Landscapes & Landmarks – Iconic places, your hotel and scenic views.
  • People & Culture – Capture locals, street markets, and everyday life.
  • Food & Drinks – Highlight unique dishes and drinks.
  • Candid Moments – Friends or family laughing, interacting, or enjoying the trip.

5. Capture Day & Night Scenes to document your vacation in photos

  • Sunrises and sunsets add warmth and magic to your album.
  • Night photography captures a different vibe—city lights, markets, or starlit skies.
  • Capture wide shots for landscapes and close-ups for details.

6. Organize & Edit

  • Use apps to organize and edit photos.
  • Sort your photos into folders by day or activity.
  • I typically make a Google album for each trip.

7. Share Creatively

  • Create an album or photo journal.
  • Make a photo collage or a short video slideshow.
