My favorite swim-out rooms in the Riviera Maya: Review from a Travel Agent

If you are a client or you’ve been following my blog at all you’ll know my favorite room is a swim-out. I decided to compile a list of our favorites and our swim-out bucket list. These resorts are all adult only but there are family-friendly resorts with swim-out options as well.

If you’re a client or have been following my blog, you probably know swim-out rooms are my favorite! So, I’ve compiled a list of our top picks and a swim-out bucket list for the future. While all the resorts on this list are adults-only, there are also fantastic family-friendly options with swim-out rooms too! You can read that post here.

My favorite swim out rooms in the Riviera Maya: Review from a Travel Agent

Barcelo Maya Riviera

This room was one of the best. It was big and bright and had lots of storage. The swim-out rooms are beautiful. They do not have bar service at the swim-out rooms so that’s a slight negative in the overall picture. You can read the whole post here.

Valentin Imperial Maya

Valentin Imperial Maya swim-out rooms are located in the Golden building. They are not direct to the pool from the patio swim-out rooms. There’s a patio, a grassy area with 2 lounge chairs, and then the pool. It’s a great room and we loved it, but a little different than some hotels that have direct pool access from your patio. We have stayed at Valentin twice, here is the review of the swim-out room, and here’s the oceanfront room.

Haven Riviera Cancun

Haven Riviera Cancun was amazing. All of their ground-floor rooms are swim-out. They have a garden view, a partial ocean view, and the oceanfront. We opted for an oceanfront swim-out and it was a great view. They do have wait staff that come around to the swim-out rooms. Major plus. You can read the full review here.

El Dorado Casitas Royale

We have stayed at El Dorado Casitas Royale twice, it’s overall our favorite resort. Everything about it. The Casitas section offers a swim-out, private pool (upper floor), and private pool swim-out. We opted for the private pool swim-out on the ground floor. It was perfect, with a private plunge pool and stairs leading to the lazy river. The lazy river takes you straight to the main pool and swim-up bar. The ground floor room categories do have waiter service in the room. The full review is here.

El Dorado Maroma

El Dorado Maroma has swim-out and private pool options. When we stayed here in 2019 the swim-out was sold out so we booked the private pool. It was on the 3rd floor. If you want more privacy it’s a great option! You can read about this trip here.

Bucket list

And now for my bucket list! In no particular order.

Hyatt Zilara Cancun (it used to be the Royal Cancun). This hotel is one of the few in Cancun that have a swim-out room.

Secrets Moxche Playa del Carmen. This one is actually a private pool, we are staying here December 2023. You can read that review here.

Atelier Playa Mujeres. The Inspira swim-out ocean view looks amazing. This hotel gets great reviews, it’s 16 and up so not a true adult only.
