It’s just under 2 weeks until Rock N’ Roll New Orleans full marathon! A lot has happened in the last few weeks after Dallas. I finished Dallas not wanting to run New Orleans. I know that’s crazy to decide at mile 26 never to run another full again. But, oh well.
So, here I am 2 weeks out and I think I’m as ready as I’ll get. I have not had great runs since Dallas. I’m not sure if I was properly rested and recovered to continue training. I did the best I could, kept getting in miles that I could.
Training last week:
Sunday: Gym day, stair master and legs
Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: Gym day, elliptical, arms, abs, lots of stretching
Wednesday: Rest day
Thursday: 6 miles, it was 16 degrees. I should get a medal for that.
Friday: Rest day
Saturday: 13 miles. Best run I’ve had since Dallas
I’ve been dealing with pain in my arch since the week before Dallas. Also, the same week I started in a new pair of shoes. I wear the Asics Gel Cumulus in size 8, but the last pair was feeling a little tight so I went with 8.5 this time. I think that was my mistake. I’ve run in my old pair, now with almost 400 miles on them, and no foot pain. I finally tracked down a pair yesterday and am ready to break these new ones in, just in time for New Orleans.
My little family has had a lot of loss the last few months and this week we had to say goodbye to our sweet Ranger. He was just shy of 15 years. John and I got him right after we bought our first house. He was a mess, but oh I loved him. I did not realize how badly I would be affected by this loss. It’s been a rough week.
I’m participating in the Sweat Pink #noexcuses challenge! Today’s challenge is a 30 second plank. Tag it on Instagram and Twitter with #sweatpink and #noexcuses.
I’m ready for an “easy” week with a few 5 milers then our last long run is next weekend, it’s only 6 miles! Yay for short, long runs.
What are you training for?
Is anyone running Rock N’ Roll New Orleans?
Happy running,
