Week 11 is done and I’m getting anxious. I’m freaking out a little about what’s ahead but super pumped about what’s already been accomplished.
A friend posted this on Facebook this week and it’s so funny, I had to share it with ya’ll!
“28 Reasons why training for a marathon is the worst thing ever!”
Laura over at Mommy Run Fast shared her “Marathon training confessions” this week. I think I’m on the same wave link.
- Too much food. My goodness my eating has gone over board. I’m hungry all.the.time. I’m working on it though.
- I’m so tired I’m falling asleep at my desk.
- I don’t know that I’m ready for it to be over necessarily but I’m anxious.
- Cross training….what’s that? I think December will be spent in the gym.
This morning was a new distance record: 18 miles. Let that sink in. That’s 3 hours of running. We went to White Rock Lake and ran for a change of scenery. That’s 2 laps around the lake. Then breakfast with the hubby, Ally and running friends. (see above about food being ridiculous!)
Training this week:
Sunday: Elliptical and weights
Monday: Rest day
Tuesday: 4.85 miles, 9:50 pace
Wednesday: 8 miles, 10:16 per mile, in the rain!
Thursday: 4 miles Run/Walk Intervals, 9:21 pace
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: 18 miles, 9:34 pace
Yesterday I found out I was accepted into a campaign through Girls Gone Sporty for the Michelle Bridges Program. The sneak peak is a 5 week program and I’m supposed to get meal plans and coaching about nutrition and fitness. Her program is being launched in the US in 2014. I’m excited since I my nutrition has gotten a bit off track during marathon training. Maybe this will give me a boost this last half of training.
So I did something else crazy today. Took my first ice bath. I’ve been considering it and reading a lot about it. I was scared and it was not pleasant. But as I type this my legs are feeling pretty good. I’m usually really sore on Saturday and so far, so good. I only used 2 bags of ice and I’m sure I didn’t fill the tub up enough, but I needed to start out slowly.
I stayed in for 15 minutes though!
And of course Molly ate the ice and wanted to play. I drank hot apple cider and wore a cap that covered my ears, a long sleeve shirt and a warm towel from the dryer around my neck and shoulders.
If I notice it helped as much as I think it has, I’ll probably be doing this after every long run.
Now I just have to motivate myself to get some laundry and house cleaning done!
Have you ever taken an ice bath?
Did you workout today?
Any big weekend plans?
