My week in review

I had a busy week! I worked 2 days then headed to 5th grade science camp with Ally’s school. It was actually pretty fun. The beds weren’t too hard, food was ok and the science classes were fun! Camp food has definitely come a long way since I was a kid – granola, yogurt and a salad bar.

When we got there Wednesday the temps were in the upper 70’s and we were all in shorts. Overnight the rain started moving in and by 7:30am Thursday morning it was pouring and the temps were falling. We had to have classes indoor that morning because of the lightning but after lunch we were able to head outside. I’m really glad I packed those rain boots for us!

This hill led up from our cabin to our class HQ, dining hall and the rec area so we walked it a lot! I got up with one of the other moms and got in a short run Thursday morning before the rain started and we ran this hill twice!

The classes included Forces in Nature, Fishing, Rocket building, testing ph levels in water samples. They tested speeds on a zip line that the parents volunteered for, got to “pet” a snake, turtle, bearded dragon, chinchilla and learned about many other animals, plants, rocks and so much more! It was definitely a different experience from the classroom.

I wish I had an idea about how many miles we walked. I wore my pedometer and got 15,000-17,000 steps on Wednesday and Thursday.

Training update:

After all that Saturday morning was a 10 mile training run. We went to White Rock Lake and ran all the way around and an extra 1/2 mile past the car and back to get 10. That was a rough last mile! I ended up with a 9:28 per mile pace which is fast for me for 10 miles. It was a beautiful day even though it was a really cold start, much colder than I like for April.

One of the girls snapped this shot of the Dallas skyline as the sun was coming up.

Following my run, I headed to the gym for weights. Next week 11 miles, it will be 8 plus a 5k race.

We have a winner of the Knuckle Lights giveaway ~ Congrats Jen Ressler!

What did you do this weekend? Anyone racing? Did you #EarnYourShower?
